I haven't read any of her books yet, BUT, some of my friends have read and loved the Twilight ones and are now reading the new Host one, they are having a hard time getting into it and said it's really different from Twilight, not as good, I would probably rent it from a library than fork out for it. That's about all I can say about it!
I finished The Host last weekend. While I will say it starts out slow and takes a little time to get into, it is really worth reading. It is slower-paced and less action-packed than the Twilight books. BUT, the characters she creates are so believable, and I got totally drawn into the story. Meyer does such a great job making situations and characters you care about. I definitely recommend it.
Heather: Here is my review of The Host- It is a definate excuse to go get a tan over a weekend and escape from the world and dive into a new one! I absolutely loved it. It is very different from Twilight, but also has a lot of similarities. It does take a little longer to really get into. But once it gets to that point, you will fall in love with all the characters. :-) It is an emotional roller-coaster, that's for sure, more so than with Bella. It is narrated and is from the main character's point of view, just like in Twilight. It is a love story that involves 3 bodies, but four individuals ;-) NOW GO READ IT!!!
It wasn't my favorite. I LOVE the Twilight books and have re-read them multiple times and made Tyler listen to them in the car on the way up north. The Host is just as creative, but I think the relationships in it don't attract me as much. I agree that it is slow...and if I didn't read it with my sister-in-law at the beginning, I probably wouldn't have finished it. Aliens definitely aren't my thing. (And vampires are? you might ask. Apparently so.)
Back in the day, when I started this blog, I was busy, but still had time to think...hence, the "contemplating" part of mama. Now, every part of me is too busy just trying to survive. Hopefully my brain will be freed up again to contemplate things such as politics, religion, various other ideas, and how to make a difference in the world. Today my only free "brain" time is used trying to decide what to make for dinner.
