My Take On Breaking Dawn

I finally finished the book. Wow, that was a bit of a surprise and a bit of slogging through. I'll follow Anne Marie's example and post my thoughts as a comment, so as not to spoil if there's anyone on the earth who hasn't finished it yet. But here's a small spoiler: My comments are not all positive.

I finally finished BD. The first part of the book was so amazing and I was just floored by the twists that I totally didn't expect. The wedding being at the beginning, Bella being pregnant, and then that Jacob imprinted on her daughter...my jaw completely dropped.

BUT then it was just so boring after that. How many pages were devoted to Bella not having troubles as a newborn and there not being a fight with the Volturi? It's like 300+ pages where nothing happened.

Reneseme was a horrific name. And she may have magically wrapped everyone else around her finger, but not me. I just didn't care about any of the characters this time. It was more like the story was being told instead of being experienced. I didn't mind reading Jacob's side, except that it was certainly inconsistant with her 3 prequals.

I also agree that Bella just had too much given to her. Yes, she can be a self-controlled newborn, or better yet, a shield for herself(which makes sense with her history of being untouched mentally), but do have both and to be able to defend EVERYONE?? Yes, that's a little too much to believe.

Hope that's not too much or too negative. What do you all think?

I agree that Bella's superpower was just too much. The fact that she was able to shield everyone on their side during the confrontation seemed like too much to swallow. The ending with the Volturi was so unsatisfying....they're still out there, probably making plans for confronting people when Bella's not around. You are definitely not the only one who was disappointed.

Yup, I agree...though I disliked the first half of the book more than the last half...though I can't think why I liked the second half now that you mention it. Renesme is an awful name, and the last was definitely not the most satisfying book. But I still love the first three books.

Well I am just a sap. I loved every single little teeny tiny part. No boringness for me.

Well... I was totally freaked out by the whole baby and pregnancy part - that was just really weird to me! I loved how Jacob imprinted on Reneseme and yes it is awful name! That whole 'shield thing' was weird too - so I guess I just call the whole book weird! I still liked it for the most part however weird it was...
