Walking on Bound Feet

I loved this Deseret News blog entry I saw today by Kristine Fredrickson. She discusses the traditional Chinese practice of binding a woman's feet for beauty. She describes in detail the ways that women would disfigure their daughters' feet for the sake of "beauty". Then she makes a very interesting comparison to our modern American views of beauty and the ways in which we bind and tuck and starve and add to our bodies for the sake of "beauty". Very interesting.

Okay, I have NEVER watched American Idol before. Not even been interested. But then I kept hearing about this teenage boy from Utah named David Archuleta. I took a peek on YouTube of his performance last week and was hooked! His voice is amazing! His rendition of "Smoky Mountain Memories" has just stayed with me all week long. So, although I'm not watching tonight, I'm hoping that he's doing well. Good Luck David!
